About Us

Welcome to Thurgarton Methodist Church.

In Thurgarton we share worship weekly with our Anglican Friends from the Priory Church of St Peter’s.

Morning worship takes place at 10.30 am every Sunday; in St Peter’s Church on the 1st and 2nd Sunday each month and in the Methodist Church on the 3rd and 4th Sundays.  If there is a 5th Sunday in the month this service is held in the Methodist Church.

We are a small rural village focusing on traditional and contemporary worship patterns with a celebration of Holy Communion in both churches once a month.  On the 5th Sunday the service often takes the form of Café Church.

By worshipping together we are able to maintain a Christian presence in our small village and to offer Christ’s saving grace to regulars and visitors alike.

The Methodist Church has removed its pews and installed comfortable chairs making the building a more flexible worship centre for the Christian and secular needs of Thurgarton and is recognised as a village asset under the Localism Act of 2011.

The Parish Council meets regularly in the premises as do a U3A group. The building is also a pleasant rural location for other churches and groups to use for ‘away days’.  There are disabled toilet facilities, a small kitchen and two separate meeting rooms available for visitors.

We celebrate Harvest services in alternate years with the Anglicans. The Anglicans hold a Christmas Eve Carol Service which is regularly attended by over 100 villagers.  An Easter Breakfast is hosted by the Methodist Church each Easter Sunday.

The Methodist Church still holds a mid-week anniversary service with an invited guest speaker and followed by supper in the village hall.

Thurgarton Methodist Church is featured on the village website and the link is here.
