CIRCUIT PRAYER DIARY

March to June 2018

In this Prayer Diary we are using the Circuit Focus Priorities as a

framework for our prayers.

Please encourage churches and individuals to pray for the work and witness of our circuit.

MARCH

DEEPENING DISCIPLESHIP

Arnold

We give thanks for the work being done to re-establish house groups in our church so that people will be able to explore their faith more deeply in new ways.

Church@Community

We give thanks that the church is taking part in 40 days of prayer during Lent, on the theme 'Live like a North Korean'.  May it deepen faith and understanding of being Christian as we pray for countries in desperate need.

RE-IMAGINING CHURCH

Circuit

We ask God's blessing on the ecumenical Good Friday Service and Easter morning Sunrise service on Gedling Country Park.  We pray for good coordination and preparation, and impact into the community.

Pray for the joint prayers with Nottingham North Circuit on March 6th.

Main Street

A new project has started in our hall by 'Hope Nottingham'.
It is an International Language Cafe. We pray for the visitors and the volunteers and a successful future for the group.

******************

Calverton

Please pray for all those connected to our church family at this time who are unwell both at home and in hospital.

March 11th Pray for mothers and families on Mothering Sunday

APRIL

RE-IMAGINING CHURCH

Venture FX Pioneer

Please  pray for Tim's work continuing with people on the fringes of church or those who have left church. Pray for his work to build an online community (through podcasting, blogging, social media and online forums) which is developing well, and pray particularly as he begins to draw together these people into offline communities.

DEEPENING DISCIPLESHIP

MAKING NEW DISCIPLES

Sherwood

Please remember our church in your prayers as we use ‘Stepping Stones’ material from Tim Coleman, which is designed to help us move people on from fringe engagement with the church to real commitment – pray that this will help church people in their own discipleship and help us to encourage others into deeper discipleship.

St John's

We give thanks for the new friends who have recently attended worship and the Wesley Guild. We pray that they will become closer to Lord Jesus and grow in faith.

MEETING COMMUNITY NEEDS

We give thanks for all the work Tim Coleman, our deacon, does in the circuit.  In particular we pray for the Ark Friendship group at Phoenix Farm, and the Killisick Allotment project in Arnold.  We pray for his chaplaincy ministry with the Carlton Air Cadets and staff and for his future ministry as he prepares to move to Warrington.

***************

Pray for Paul Worsnop as he becomes Superintendent of Nottingham (Trent Valley) Circuit from April 2nd

Vocations Sunday April 22nd.  We pray for all those who feel called to ministry that they will answer and test their call. We pray especially that more people will commit to  the call to Ordained Ministry.

MAY

MEETING COMMUNITY NEEDS

St John's

We give thanks that we are able to meet some of the community needs in this area through our contacts with the schools, Care Home, Wesley Guild and Shell Club meetings.

Phoenix Farm

We pray for the refugees of the world today.

In Christian Aid Week may we be generous in helping poor communities protect themselves from disasters.

MAKING NEW DISCIPLES

Thurgarton

‘We give thanks for our 91st Church Anniversary celebration on 24th May (Wesley Day) and pray that we may encourage new disciples to join us then and at our future services in the village. We pray for Paul Worsnop who will be preaching at this his last anniversary service after 11 years with us.’

***********************

Mapperley

Please pray for the whole congregation at Mapperley, as we consider our future role in the Mapperley area.

Burton Joyce

We pray for a vision of the future, and the wisdom and the strength to follow that vision.   Our fellowship is aging and  there is little likelihood that we will have a minister in the near future.

On Aldersgate Sunday on May 24th we pray for our Methodist Church, for its future and give thanks for all it means to us. We pray for the mission of the circuit, that we will all step out in faith and confidence to spread the good news of Christ where we are.

JUNE

Arnold

We ask for continued blessings on our church and on the ministry of Rev. Richard Byass, that we are able to move forward to incorporate and build on new and on going activities in HIs name.

MAKING NEW DISCIPLES

MEETING COMMUNITY NEEDS

Sherwood

Please pray for Sherwood Art Week and the church’s engagement with the community to be positive and bear fruit.

Arnold and Gedling Churches

Give thanks for the Arnold Carnival organised by Gedling Borough Council.  We pray for the Arnold Council of Churches Prayer tent and the Praise Service held on Arnot Hill Park on Sunday morning June 17th that the gospel will be heard and celebrated.

MEETING COMMUNITY NEEDS

Gedling Road

We give thanks that we are able to be part of the ecumenical team which provides chaplaincy services to the adjacent health centre.  We pray for our monthly community lunch club which we host.

************************

We ask God's blessing on our ministers and local preachers as they prepare and lead  worship each week.

We pray for the unity of our circuit, that in our weakness we will be made strong, in our strengths we will be generous to one another and in all that we do and are, may we be beacons in our communities of Christian love and kindness

June 10th

As MHA celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2018, Methodist Homes Sunday will have a special emphasis on the achievements of age and the completeness of life. Give thanks for all the work of MHA
